PAYROLL OFFICER

YouthCARE is one of Western Australia's largest not-for-profit organisations. YouthCARE aims to create positive school communities, where students are empowered and encouraged to be the best they can be. Each year YouthCARE Chaplains help thousands of students, staff and family members in Western Australian public school communities by providing an essential social, emotional and mental health support service.

Reporting to the Finance Manager, this role is responsible for managing all aspects of YouthCARE’s payroll, the key responsibilities include:

Payroll

  • Ensures accurate and timely processing of YouthCARE’s fortnightly payroll.
  • Calculates salaries, deductions, allowances and other pay-related adjustments accurately.
  • Management of payroll data in the Finance Systems and Payroll Systems including creation of new starters and termination of staff.
  • Updates payroll systems with variations to existing contracts, change of name, change of title, promotions and allowances.
  • High level of customer service for Payroll queries. Being the key point of contact regarding payroll queries and leave requirements. Provide guidance to employees on payroll policies and procedures.
  • Compliance and Legislation: Stays updated on changes to payroll laws and communicate any relevant updates to the management team.
  • Record-Keeping and Reporting: Maintain accurate and up-to-date payroll records, including employee details, pay rates, and deductions.
  • The generation of reports for management, including payroll summaries and audit reports.
  • Fosters a desire of continuous learning to keep up to date with the changing requirements and legislation in the payroll environment.
  • Has a high level of attention to detail.

Essential Criteria

  • Only Australia Citizens or Permanent Residents should apply.
  • Must be able to support the Christian mission and vision of YouthCARE.
  • At least 2 years experience in a similar role
  • Experience using accounting software packages.
  • Ability to manage and carry out general business administrative tasks
  • An understanding of commercial business transactions
  • Demonstrated comprehensive knowledge of Microsoft applications.
  • Developed office skills including proficiency with equipment and customer service;
  • Well developed interpersonal skills and communication skills.
