Build Up Zone is a program designed to support the development of social and emotional competencies in primary-aged students. Our suite of five programs covers topics such as friendship, cooperation and teamwork, resolving conflict, identifying and handling feelings, and responding to bullying.
This strength-based program utilises games, activities and stories, engaging students as they learn about themselves and their peers.
Build Up Zone is founded on the idea that “prevention is better than cure”. Instead of devising a solution after a problem has been identified, the emphasis is on creating a healthy school culture and building a positive environment which empowers students.
Students will establish skills for communication and cooperation. They will discuss feelings associated with having friends, describe friendly behaviours, and be introduced to the BUZ Hopscotch Method of Conflict Resolution. Students will also explore positive strategies for handling their feelings.
Students will continue to develop their group communication and cooperation skills and explore their personal strengths. They’ll learn that conflicts between friends can be resolved and the importance of forgiveness. Additionally, students will strengthen their ability to identify and manage their emotions.
This program focuses on building relationship and problem solving skills. Students learn strategies for resolving conflict and handling emotions, discuss bullying behaviour, and identify and practice strategies to respond to bullying.

This program focuses on developing tools and skills for personal and group power. Students will learn about the power they haveto believe in themselves, to grow and change, to handle feelings, overcome failure, to bounce back, to stand up for something and to make good choices. Every student will receive their own toolbox and discover important skills for everyday life.

The aim of this program is to develop a team of leaders equipped with conflict resolution skills to enhance the safety and equity of the school playground. Students learn about effective communication, reconciliation techniques and bully proofing strategies. BUZ Rangers provides students with practical tools to foster a positive playground environment for all.
