Remote areas of WA have beautiful landscapes, rich cultures and close knit communities. They also face unique concerns such as isolation from health services, separation from friends and family, and changes from a shifting workforce. Schools in these communities need tailored support, so YouthCARE has developed a Fly-In Fly-Out (FIFO) chaplaincy program.
FIFO chaplaincy was started by YouthCARE in 2011, providing Area Chaplains to the Kimberley and Pilbara. We aim to strengthen relationships between schools and their communities, support students and staff and provide additional Support chaplaincy for these areas. This means that more schools have access to our services more often, so we can make a bigger, more permanent difference to people’s lives, through access to the support they need.
We also partner with chaplains from Kingdom Aviation, who provide flying Support chaplaincy to remote community schools, bringing together our communities and supporting more people state-wide.
